How to avoid dry skin this Winter- Blogmas #4

16 Dec 2018

Hello everyone,

Today's Blogmas post is all about how to keep your skin feeling soft and moisturised this winter. However, I did just want to address the big old crusty thing growing on my chin LOL. Now I really do love to be as real as possible on my Blog and my Instagram, so I thought, do you know what, lets just not let this get me down. You may be thinking what the bloody nora is it?? I actually have managed to get Impetigo on my chin :( Its basically a skin infection and can spread like wildfire (which I have learned along my way) It's so itchy and looks soooooooo ugly but imma just embrace it TBH because what else can I do. But aside from my crusty chin, I hope you enjoy Blogmas day 4.

I don't know about you but I always get the most driest of skin come November. I forget to moisturise regularly and I tend to fake tan more, which do not go hand in hand.  However, this brand new product from Bio-Oil has been just what my skin has needed this winter. The new Bio-Oil Dry Skin gel was ever so kindly sent over to me from the lovely PR team a couple of weeks ago. They also sent over this adorable candle that was sprinkled with christmassy shrubbery, which I thought was just so lovely of them. So thankyou so much to Bio-Oil for this lovely little gift.  I have been trying and testing it and think that its now the right time to share with you my thoughts.

What is this new product?

This is Bio-Oil's first ever product launch, after months of research. You may have all heard of their famous body oil used on scaring, stretch marks and dry skin. This new product is basically a gel moisteriser formula. If you love a very hydrating moisturiser, you are going to love this one. This gel is £14.99 for this 200ml size, however, the 50ml size is only £4.99 which is great. It provides moisture for the skin by using substances that reduce the loss of moisture, such as Hyaluronic Acid and Glycerine. These  products essentially keep the skin moisturised by 'binding water from the atmosphere and drawing into skin cells' which sounds very technical indeed.

How to use the gel

The way I have been using the gel is to rub into any dry areas of my skin, usually being elbows, knees and knuckles. I will take a very small amount of the product on the tip of my fingers and rub into my dry areas. You can feel it get to work immediately on the skin. This gel is perfect before you fake tan because you are nearly 100% likely to not have patchy tan if you use this product before hand. I wouldn't reccomened using this as your average all over body moisturiser, as you may feel a little too moisturised.  However, saying this, I will use the remnants of the product left on my hand and just rub it into my arms and legs. You honestly only need to use the smallest amount of this product too so it's going to last a very long time. I also love using this gel after shaving. I rarely used an after shaving cream and have realised I should probably do so. So I now have started using this and it makes the shaved area feel great and so soft. It also does not sting at all which is even better.

The big question... Is it greasy?

Now you are all probably wondering, IS THIS GREASY. Now, I am not going to lie to you, like any oil based product you are going to feel a little greasy. With this product I find you do experience a little greasiness, however, it sinks into the skin so quickly and just feels like a normal moisteriser.
